Did you remain at the same school(s) or transfer to a number of different schools growing up? How did your early educational experiences impact your self-esteem and confidence?
I transferred a lot. (It's a lot to me...)
I think that I went to 5-6 different schools.
I've moved (to different countries) about 4 times, and so because of that I had no choice but to start at a new school. (I started school in my birth city, and then moved 4 times from there, making that 5-6 schools.)
The self-esteem and confidence ... that's kind of different.
It was shot from about grade 3 (my 3rd school) so I really had no hope after that.
(And it didn't help that every school after that seemed to make matters worse, than better.)
But going to all of these different schools did help in introducing me to new cultures, and people, and different race/religions/ethnicity/etc. Because of it (and how my parents raised me) I'm definitely more tolerant than most people around me. (And less ignorant.)
Anyways, that answers that question.
On a more random note, I am almost finished reading The Painted Bird. (I will comment on that in another post, when I am finished the book.)
