I just read The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
Umm .. it took me about 3 hours or so to read it.
And it was one of the best books I've read in a while.
I'm currently working through a list of "classic" books, that you should read before you die.
(And I'm keeping to my New Years List of "Things to Accomplish in 2010." I promised I'd read one book per month.)
Since I've read The Secret Garden, I'm now moving on to the next book on my list, that I have access to, which is Brave new World.
Then probably Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell. (Because my brother also wants to read it.)
And then I'll read a book recommended to me by invictus_86 called "The Painted Bird".
I'm just waiting for it to get to my library for me to pick up. :)

And if I'm feeling really retarded, and bored. I'll read a book in french. For fun, and to hopefully increase my French comprehension.

Anyways, I'm out for now. Peace.

EDIT:
Fail on my part. I forgot to write the month in the subject. Because if you read it. It doesn't actually make sense. :P

Please enjoy some Kings of Leon.
The Band for Which Jared Plays Bass, if you didn't know that.
This song is Cold Desert. (It's my absolute favourite!!)

-EDIT-

Umm .. wow .. major fail on my part.
I just realized that I wrote Nathan instead of Jared, in the subject. (Even though I wrote Jared in the post.)
My bad.

Do you have a "dream car"? If you had money to spare, would you buy a new car? If so, would you be more likely to get an eco-friendly vehicle, a vintage model, or a luxury sportscar?

Hell yes I have a dream car.
I actually have 2 dream cars.
The first is a 1968 Ford Mustang.
The second is a 1968 Cadillac Deville Convertible.
Apparently 1968 is a good year for me because both of the cars I want are from 1968. :P

And I've essentially answered all the questions without really realizing it. I have 2 Dream Cars. Both of them Vintage Makes. If I did have money to spare, I would buy them in a heart beat.
But I wouldn't be able to drive them because I still haven't gotten around to getting my Drivers License.

Happy New Years! It's 2010!!
You know what that means??
It means that it's time for New Years Resolutions!!
We all know what resolutions entail ... Lose 20 pounds, Stop eating chocolate, etc.

That's not what I'm going to do this year.
Why? Because it's stupid. And no one ever follows that shit.
So instead of Resolutions, I'll have a list. (It'll be a list of things I want to accomplish in 2010,,,)
I thought I would share them with you.

Here are the goals.
1. Get healthy.
Get Healthy =/= Lose 20 pounds!!!
It means get active, eat in moderation, and indulgences are okay every once in a while.
Which means I'm  not giving up Chocolate!! (Like I'd ever give up Chocolate.)
2. Get a job.
This is pretty much self explanatory. (If it's not, Job = Money = Me Not Broke!!)
3. See King Tut at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO).
I wanted to see this with my mom during the Holiday's, but we decided not to.
We'll try and go during January or February. :)
4. See the Harry Potter Exhibit at the Science Center.
Self Explanatory. It'll be in Toronto from April or something. Not sure. But I'll be there. :D
5. Go to a BUNCH of Toronto Events.
This means I want to go to the Jazz Fest, Jazz on the Beaches, the Pride Parade, Caribana, TIFF, Hot Docs(?), The Ex, NYE @ Nathan Phillip Square, etc. Clearly you understand what I'm talking about.
Also, go and see some of my favourite bands in concert. Seriously. Live shows are the ish!
6. Go to Irvine, California for the Pan Pacific Swim Championships.
Umm .. can you say 'swimming fan'?? Because if you can, please do. Seriously, it's the only big international swim meet that is going to be somewhere in North America. And who doesn't want to go to California and see hunky swimmers. Plus it's going to be in an outdoor pool, which, for some reason, is oddly appealing.
7. Read one book a month. **Suggestions in the comments please and thanks**
I'd say per week, but that could prove difficult in the long run. I miss reading books. (I'm not saying I don't read. I do ... just not books/novels.)
8. Travel.
If I can travel to new cities/countries, then why not. I'll keep it on my list as a kind of bonus goal to accomplish.
9. SLASH/Fanfic.
No, I'm not going to be writing any slash/fanfic. I'm just going to read more. That's all.

Goal #9 on the list is a give away goal for my self. It's the kind of goal that I will follow through enthusiastically. And I'm sure that the slash writers might be happy about this.

Umm .. I can't really think of anymore things I'd like to accomplish in 2010. If I do come up with something else, I'll post it.
As the year progresses, and more blog posts come up I'll keep you guys updated on the progress of the goals.

And I can't watch it live because I don't live in the UK, and no one else seems to be doing a live feed.
(And I don't think I can wait until next week to watch because it'll be all edited and shit, and I'll already know who wins, and thats not fun.)
I'm probably going to go to OMEGA and "watch" their live results. But this sucks. >:|

-Calypso (aka Caly)

PS. I also went to watch the Olympic Torch Relay in Toronto yesterday. I
t was so cool. :D  And freezing cold :(
I also held the actual torch. Boo Fucking Yea! ( I met one of the runners, and he was like "yeah you can hold it")

Yeah thats me. (With my retarded hat, and RBC tambourine under my left arm)

Anyways I'm out. :)

Oh man. I'm ridiculously insane. (I'm surprised that I actually spelt ridiculously right the first time I typed it. But that's not why I'm insane.)

I had my political science exam today.
And well, I decided to day dream about my TA, who was invigilating the exam, for like 10-15 minutes.
I'd totally space out and just sit there like staring off into space thinking about him.

This isn't something one should so readily admit, but I don't really care. (I'm tired and cranky and I have one more exam to write.)

The worst part is that if I didn't sit and day dream about him, I would have probably finished the whole exam. (No I didn't actually finish. I completely finished 2/3 parts. For the 3rd part I got about 3/4 of my long essay done before I ran out of time. *FACE PALM*)

Seriously I urge you not to do something stupid like day dream about your TA during an exam. During tutorial, go for it. But not during a final exam!!

DAMN TYLER's SEXINESS TO HELL.
IF I FAIL, IT'S TOTALLY HIS FAULT!! (Well not really, but whatever)

Thank you. I shall go and study for my french exam.
Peace out.

PS. Don't you just love the sexy as hell Dr. Spencer Reid (from Criminal Minds)??

Dear higher beings.
If you love me, won't you let me go? Umm .. no.
Please let me have good exams. (Meaning please let me pass)
I've been good this year. (Well, for the most part anyways)
I promise that if you help me get somewhat decent marks (ie. over 75% would be lovely) I'll be nice, and good, and well you get the idea.

Please please please let me do good.
Thank you.
Love~

-Calypso (aka Caly)

PS. if you could also inspire some slash writers to write something, that would be awesome. XD
PPS. I rock because I got an 80% on an essay I totally bullshitted on. XD Me for the win!!
PPPS. My subject is retarded. And it will only make sense if you read it on Friday December 11th, 2009.

If you hate homophobes, please read and repost this!

I am the girl kicked out of her home because I confided in my mother that I am a lesbian.
I am the prostitute working the streets because nobody will hire a transsexual woman.
I am the sister who holds her gay brother tight through the painful, tear-filled nights.
We are the parents who buried our daughter long before her time.
I am the man who died alone in the hospital because they would not let my partner of twenty-seven years into the room.
I am the foster child who wakes up with nightmares of being taken away from the two fathers who are the only loving family I have ever had. I wish they could adopt me.
I am one of the lucky ones, I guess. I survived the attack that left me in a coma for three weeks, and in another year I will probably be able to walk again.
I am not one of the lucky ones. I killed myself just weeks before graduating high school. It was simply too much to bear.
We are the couple who had the realtor hang up on us when she found out we wanted to rent a one-bedroom for two men.
I am the person who never knows which bathroom I should use if I want to avoid getting the management called on me.
I am the mother who is not allowed to even visit the children I bore, nursed, and raised. The court says I am an unfit mother because I now live with another woman.
I am the domestic-violence survivor who found the support system grow suddenly cold and distant when they found out my abusive partner is also a woman.
I am the domestic-violence survivor who has no support system to turn to because I am male.
I am the father who has never hugged his son because I grew up afraid to show affection to other men.
I am the home-economics teacher who always wanted to teach gym until someone told me that only lesbians do that.
I am the man who died when the paramedics stopped treating me as soon as they realized I was transsexual.
I am the person who feels guilty because I think I could be a much better person if I did not have to always deal with society hating me.
I am the man who stopped attending church, not because I don't believe, but because they closed their doors to my kind.
I am the person who has to hide what this world needs most, love.
I am the person who is afraid of telling his loving Christian parents he loves another male.

Re-post this if you believe homophobia is wrong. Please do your part to end it.

I couldn't not repost this.

Imagine that you have a time machine. Which deceased musician would you most want to travel back in time to watch perform live?

NAT KING COLE.

NO QUESTIONS ASKED. He's just so amazing. And he has a wonderful voice.

Also, Miles Davis. (Or any other amazing Jazz musician)
